Crochet Bunny Pattern

A soft bunny with tall upright ears and a little round tail.

This bunny is a sweet first or second amigurumi. The body and head are simple stuffed ovals; the long ears are flat tubes that you sew standing up — or let them flop, however you like.

How it's made

How to make an easy crochet bunny

You'll make a head, a body, two long ears, two arms, two legs and a small pompom tail — single crochet in the round throughout.

Stuff the head and body firmly, pinch and sew the ears to the top of the head, then attach the limbs and tail. Add safety eyes and embroider a tiny nose.

What you'll need

  • Main-colour yarn (white, grey, caramel…) + a hook that matches the gauge below
  • A scrap of pink for the nose and inner ears
  • 2 safety eyes (or black yarn to embroider) and black yarn for the nose
  • Stuffing, stitch marker, tapestry needle
  • A stitch marker, a tapestry needle, scissors, and toy stuffing

Gauge — read this first

24 sc × 20 rounds = 10 cm, worked tightly so the stuffing doesn't show. Use whatever yarn and hook give you this gauge — for the default that's worsted/aran yarn with about a 3.0–3.5 mmhook. Make a small swatch and change hook size until it matches; off-gauge isn't wrong, the piece just comes out a little bigger or smaller.

Assembly

Put it all together

Use a tapestry needle and matching yarn. Pin pieces in place before sewing.

  1. Stuff the head and body firmly.
  2. Sew the head onto the top of the body.
  3. Sew the two long ears upright to the top of the head.
  4. Sew the two arms to the upper sides of the body.
  5. Sew the two legs to the lower front.
  6. Sew the pompom tail to the lower back.

Finishing touches

  • Fit the safety eyes on the face before you close the head (or embroider them).
  • Embroider a small pink nose, a mouth and a few whiskers.
  • Optionally embroider or sew pink inner ears.
  • 2 safety eyes, or embroidered in black (black)
  • a small embroidered nose (pink)
